| Allison's Testimony |
I have been in church ALL of my life. Literally from my birth I have been in the church. My life started off really rough, actually it almost ended before it ever began. I suffered a stroke at the age of two days old and spent the first month of my life in the hospital NICU with tubes everywhere. When asked about my condition the doctors have said I should have died. My life is a miracle in itself. I suffered a seizure disorder that lasted 12.5 years and to which I should have not recovered from. I was healed and have not had a seizure in eleven years (April 1997) and off meds for seven years(August 2001).
All this caused a ton of stress in my family, and everything went downhill. I was favored, but my attention centered around my disease, and when I was 9 years old the abuse started, both physical and emotional. I was beat with a board for four years as "discipline" and then they realized that it wasn't working. It was also at that time that the emotional abuse started. I was given outrageous standards academically and was pushed to get straight A's. When I got to high school I had to get a 3.0 GPA. I graduated with a 3.5, Honors diploma nd my first c was in my junior year in Chemistry. I was so afraid ot show my report card to my parents because i feared hey would belittle me. The next challeneg was 3.0 in college. I stressed out in college and it came down to my lst semster where I earned an A- a, made the Dean's list and earned a 3.046 GPA. That is only the academic side though. I was pushed so hard that I begain to cut and take the focus off of the words and hurt myself. I wanted to die and attempted suicide twice once at 13 and the second at 17.
I always went to church, but it never sunk in, because i never saw it lived out. I told God that if he didn't show up at camp that I was going to die. IT was there that my life changed forever. I went there and on the first night of the invitation I went down to the cafeteria and talked with my family group leader and we talked about Christ. In the end I expressed a desire to be baptized, and I was baptized at the end ofthat week on Friday, July 18,2003.
Afer this my life has never been the same. The same parents who approved my baptism now reject the result. I received the Holy Spirit, and after that I have been "crazy". The Lord radically changed my life. I stopped cursing and loved the Lord and wanted to pray all day long. Everytime I want to fast because the Lord says so my parents think i am anorexic. I am radical. They hate that I want to grow closer to God, but when i am not acting in the Spirit they pick up on it and feel obligated to tell me stuff I all ready know and that I should "act" Chirstian. There is no acting involved. I am a blood bought child of the Living God. And I am called. I go forth and press forward.
