Hi Victor, I like the way you end your testimony reminding us all, that no matter what the circumstances, God is always ready to shower us with His Grace, His Mercy, and His Son, Amen. I left Church and ran away from home when I became 17 years old. I felt that I was no good because of making mistakes while a young teenager resulting from physical and mental abuse by my mom. The Church we attended didn't have anyone I could confide in without it being blown out of proportion. I couldn't go to movies or my prom dance for it was considered too worldly, all the assumptions of legalism is why I left church and became very rebellious. When I ran away I had joined the Latin Kings Chicago Street Gang which comes with all the violence, drugs and alcohol you can think of. On February 14,1972 my friend "Keno" who was the president of the Latin Kings was killed along with 3 others by a rival street gang the "Latin Disciples". I retaliated the following month by driving by the Latin Disciples' hood and open fired on them with a sawed off shotgun yelling gang slogans and death threats. In June of that same year the Latin Disciples surrounded me and I was shot in the chest. After realizing I was shot I started running but in the back of my mind was "run where?". I ran which seemed forever while watching guys come out from building gangways and from everywhere it seemed and open fired on me which looked like slow motion. I could see the puff of smoke coming out of the barrel of the shotgun, all in slow motion. I thought I was Swiss cheese because of all the gunfire that took place. I thought for sure that I was dead. Believe it or not only one bullet hit me and I was released from the hospital 2 weeks later. In 1977 I joined the U.S. Army thinking that I could get away from the gang life and make a career in the miltary so that people and family can be proud of me. I wound up, to make a looong story short in a Military Prison in 1984 after giving drugs to an undercover agent. I was sentenced to 1 year hard labor, a dishonorable discharge. I lost my wife I was married to then and my daughter due to her divorcing me while serving my sentence. I had abused her mentally for I was so strung out on drugs and alcohol. After my release from prison in 1985 I went back to Chicago with a dollar in my pocket and the clothes on my back and asked my former employer if I could work. I told them my story and they had compassion on me and gave me a chance. It is there that I met my wife I'm currently married to for these last 24 years. After marrying in December 1985 we were thinking about a divorce. Thank God for people witnessing to you. Our landlord told me about Jesus and how our lives would change. We went to his Church and met his Pastor resulting in us receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior on March 16,1986. While employed I went to school and wound up in Engineering, programming machines and helping others to become good machinists which I do to this day at my current employer Halliburton Energy Services here in Irving, Texas. It has been such a blessing to know that God loves us so much in spite of our mess. We have a traveling Ministry since 2001 called "Touching Lives Ministries". We are 1997 Rhema graduates and have been so blessed to know who we are in Christ and to be able to share His love with a lost and dying world. We pastored for 2 years when we relocated to Irving, Texas in 2004 and were redirected by the Lord to become members at Eagle Mountain International Church in Newark, TX under Pastors George and Terri Pearsons in 2006. I thank the Lord daily for His tremendous love and grace that is poured out for those that believe in Jesus' finished work on the cross. I pray that this testimony will inspire the reader to understand that no matter what the situation or circumstance, you are not a loser, a failure or a reject. God has great plans for you and your future but Jesus is the only one that can help you.
