Bri's Testimony
If I can edit this later, I'll rewrite this, but I don't have time now so I'm going to post the testimony I wrote up almost a year ago.  It's definitely not as good as it could be so if I find time, I'll write a new one and post it instead.

There is no doubt that life has been hard for me.  I have had many obstacles placed in my way: problems with acne, losing my best friends, not getting along with my brother, among other things.  I struggle now with being accepted, having unusually high cholesterol, the pressure of maintaining straight A’s, not having many friends, and having parents that reject a Biblical faith in Christ.  I would have fallen into deep depression and suicidal thoughts long ago if it were not for one thing: my relationship with my Lord and Savior.  In Him lies my only hope.

My story is one of a girl who held a false faith for 15 years and then was brought to genuine faith in the Lord.  I was born into a Catholic family.  As was the custom, I was baptized as an infant.  As I grew older, I participated in the sacraments of the Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation.  My family went to church almost every Sunday except during tax season because my dad was busy with his accounting work.  I also went to church Wednesday nights from sixth to eighth grade for Faith Formation classes.  I learned nothing from the classes except that they were extremely boring.  Going to church and classes was my religion.  I never prayed, never read, and never really cared about God.  I had no relationship with the Lord and I did not even desire one.  I was fine with my version of Christianity.

In 2005, something began to change in me.  I started to desire a relationship with the Lord.  I began to pray and read the Bible a lot, but nothing drastic happened until almost two years later.  At the end of 2006, I began listening to Christian rap and by the spring of 2007, I only listened to Christian music.  The lyrics penetrated me and transformed my mind.  Before I knew it, I was being changed into an “unashamed, all-saved, all-serious” follower of Christ.  Reading the Bible became a daily occurrence through which I finally turned away from my old faith.

By reading the Bible, I found many flaws in the Catholic doctrine that had been programmed into my brain.  My old faith was not hard to leave behind since I had never felt a real connection with it and the Lord was so convincingly leading me out of it.  I knew that I had to attempt to get my parents and brother out of the Catholic Church as well.  With the Lord guiding the way, my brother came to true faith in Jesus Christ.  However, my parents refused to leave the faith they had been brought up believing.  They still have not converted to real Christianity, but I am confident that the Lord will help me reach them somehow.

Though I have come to an extremely close relationship with the Lord, I know more must be done.  I have recently dedicated even more of my time to the Lord.  My once-a-day prayer will become twice a day at first and even more in the future.  My reading of the Bible will become an in-depth study.  Someone once told me that I am as close to God as I am trying to be and I truly believe it.  That is why I am multiplying my efforts.  I desire to know and love the Lord more than anything else.

I want my testimony to present three main points.  First, life is not complete without a relationship with God.  If you think Christianity is all about going to church on Sunday and acting as the rest of the world on Monday through Saturday change your mindset.  Christ calls us to deny ourselves and follow Him.  The gate is not all that is narrow; the road is too.  Put to death everything that is no of the Lord and bring to life a new you.  This life should be focused on the Lord.  Read, pray, and praise.  Be transformed.

Second, there will be hard times, but God promises to bring you through.  Knowing Him alone can bring true joy when you are down as low as you can go.  Many problems can be too big for you, but no problem is too big for the Lord.  Put your complete trust in Him.  Run into His loving arms.  He will comfort you when comfort is nowhere to be found.

Third, we are called to share our faith.  I am sharing my testimony in hopes that I can affect people.  If only one person comes to the Lord because of my testimony, I will be satisfied.  If you know atheists, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, people from “Christian” cults, or nonbelievers of any sort, do not keep quiet.  If there is even a slim chance that they will come to belief in Jesus Christ, then there is a need to share.  If you keep quiet, they could die without Christ and end up in hell for eternity.  Imagine Christ telling them to depart from Him.  No one should wish that fate on anyone.

I end this with two requests.  To the believers I say, find the area in your relationship with God that needs the most improvement, whether it is prayer, Bible reading, or whatever else, and work on it.  To the nonbelievers I say, please email me at UnashamedOfHim116@yahoo.com.  I want to tell you about Christ’s amazing gift of salvation and how you can receive it.  I want you to know about His amazing love.

God bless each and every one of you!
