Samantha's Testimony
It's hard to believe that it's been seven years since the day that I was saved. But here I am and this is what God has done for me. I'm going to take you back to the Sunday it all started. My parents are divorced and at the time, I was with my mother for the weekend. I had said good bye to my older sister, Chrissy, and from what I had seen I would see her on that Monday. I never knew I could be wrong... I came into my grandparent's house, I lived there in the midst of the seperation. My grandmother said good bye to my mother and the usual pleasentries. I didn't know... My grandfather was waiting for me in his office. He said, "I have some bad news...Your sister is dead.." He went over the details in the midst of the tears that we all had shed. A drunk driver had hit her on the wrong side of the road while arguing with her boyfriend. Chrissy had been with her boyfriend at the time of the crash, and they seemed to be doing nothing wrong. She died while at the hospital. She was 15. I was 11. Now let's fast forward a year later at an Easter special. My friend Liz had invited me to go, and though I was nervous, I accepted. All of the torture was there, seeing was Jesus had gone through was something else. Finally at the third night of the special there was a man who wanted to pray with me. His name was Sam, kind of a funny coincidence. All I can remember after that was crying and a prayer that would forever save my soul. I was 12. That same year, God had blessed me in a way that I could not have imagined. My mother had a child, with my now step-father. Her name is Shelby Lynn Hooper, and she was born on September 3, 2002. I couldn't believe that God would send me that miracle, it brings me to tears just thinking about that innocent precious gift. I still wonder if she knows just what she is... Fast forward two years later. My mother sat me down on the table with a pregnancy test. Yes, it's true, she was pregnant again. This time the child would be a boy. My little brother was born December 4,2004. He is what I call the double blessing. I never thought I would have younger siblings, and yet they are alive and well today! God is good. I was 14. Fast forward three years. In the midst of joy there is some pain. My mother had a "built-in babysitter" as they called it. But what they didn't see was something more painful. Something most people wouldn't want to see in their lifetime. My mother told me and told me time and time again that I was helping the family, that I was just going to have to sacrifice my time for those children. But abuse is abuse, no doubt about it. I didn't go anywhere, didn't have any time for myself, I just watched the kids. The abuse stretched into habits too personal to go into just on here, but, it was horrible. Finally I couldn't take it anymore...I left. I was 17. Now let's pause. Here I am now, 18 years old. I'm going to college soon, and I have my license, ready to face the world and all it's heartaches. I've been through both good and bad in my life, and yet here I am. God has a plan for me and I will never forget that. Hit play......

List books, music or ministries that have helped your walk: The Left Behind Series are my favorite book series and it helps me get a practical sense of the End Times that we will face. I love Contemporary Christian music. It's the only music I could completely turn up the volume so it's blaring out my speakers. It keeps me close to the Father. The Quake at Pasadena Assembly of God is amazing! Though I'm not there now, it helped me through life.
