Being a cop people rely on you to help solve their problems. Being a Chief of Police officer's rely on you to help solve their problems. So where do I turn to when I need help. For the longest time there was no where. I knew about God I had been raised in church, but I never wanted to release complete control over my life to him. That is hard for an officer to do. We are the one who are always supposed to be in contol even when all hell breaks loose. I got to a point where I was about to go crazy. I always knew that I need to get back in church, but I was to proud to humble myself before God. One day I read a book by K.P. Yohannan Revolutions in World Missions and it opend my eyes to the truth. Here I sit in my air conditioned office with my stomach full and my kids going to a safe school, my wife able to go to the store and buy what we need. And over in the other side of the world people are dying for the name of God. People are being beaten and abused for proclaming their belief in God. Where a child is instructed to say he doesnt believe in GOd and he will be allowed to live, but that child replys " I do not want to die, but I cannot deny God" and he is killed for his belief. My God how blind I have been. So from that moment the Lord started working on my heart. One day I went to church and the pastor made the call for the unsaved to come up front , but my pride would not let me go. I waited untill the pastor was by himself and I approached him and softly asked him if he would pray with me. The pastor replied that he would and asked me what I wanted him to pray with me for. I was unable to respond and I guess God opened his mind and placed what I need him to ask me which was " Do you need God in your life"? I was overcome with emotions but was able to say "YES"!!!. From that day on I have found peace in our lord. I asked our lord to take away the urge to smoke so that I may quit them nasty cigaretts. And thank God I have not smoked in one week and have had no urges to smoke and I have smoked for 25 years. Thank you God for your love and your countless blessing on my family. I am unworthy of anything from you lord, but you still love me and forgive me.
