I was raised as the "good catholic girl," but somehow I always knew in my heart that God wanted something more from and more for me. Instead, I ignored the inner voice. At 17 going on 18, I left Guam and my family for college and that's when I became "lost and confused." I began to live out my new found "freedom" and opened the doors for my sinful nature to take over. I didn't realize it at the time, I was in a serious relationship with a boy who I, unconsciously allowed to break my heart. When the relationship ended with unadmitted deceit, the "good girl" became bad. The hurt took over and suddenly the easiest thing to do was live life unconsciously in sin. I became someone I detested. It was evident that the life I was living could only be changed by God. It wasn't until I was 20 going on 21 that I had a taste of God's healing process when my "sister" Renee first witnessed to me. It was when I went with her to a service that I first felt the powerful presence of our Lord. I still battled with my sinful nature, but I wasn't ready to give it all away until my 21st birthday, when Edwin Lewis Cole was a guest speaker and preached about "Lust." The truth was revealed to me and true repentence came and I finally gave it all away. I discovered truth that morning and it set me free. My broken heart was completely healed and I found love in Jesus. I was hooked. I began to read the Bible and for the first time in 21 years, the Word spoke life. The Word had new meaning and purpose. I could comprehend it rather than just read. There was complete joy in my salvation and the light of Christ had shone so bright that I was fired up for Jesus. Since then, God had continued to place powerful spiritual women in my life... women with unwaivering faith at different times of my life... women like my sisters Theresa and Tisha who I've felt spiritually connected with... whose mentored my walk with Christ and continues to inspire, encourage and illuminate the life and love of Christ. The greatest blessing that I received as a result of my salvation in Christ is "LIFE" itself. I am now living my life for God's purpose, not mine. Is it perfect? No. It's far from perfect, but I am made perfect in Christ and as long as I continue to humble myself before him, he will continue to peel away the ungodly layers in my life. He has blessed me with my awesome husband Daniel and 4 beautiful children. That blessing alone, humbles me everyday. I have many favorite scriptures, but two scriptures that remain inbedded in my heart since the very beginning of my salvation are 1) "Delight yourself in the Lord and he will grant you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4 2) "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path." Proverbs 3:4-6
