My testimony is not one of great deliverance from a horrible life of crime, drugs, and illicit behavior, but one of how awesome life can be to those whose life is hidden in Christ. I was raised in a Christian home and heard about the things of God from a young age. My Grandfather was a Methodist pastor. In January of 1969, in Fostoria Ohio, at the age of eight I was sitting in church and my Grandfather gave the invitation for those who wanted to accept Christ. Something hit me that day like never before. I began to cry and told my Dad that I wanted to go forward. WOW! What an amazing day! You should have seen my Grandfather beam with joy to see his grandson coming forward to get saved.
As I approached my teen years and all of the temptations of life I knew what I had was better than what the world had to offer. I look back and I'm amazed that I didn't make greater mistakes in my life. I believe the prayers of my parents and grandparents held me close to God and far from sin. At the age of 16 I was baptized in the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues for the first time. Around that time I accepted God's call into the full time ministry and made plans to head to Bible College after high school graduation.
My testimony is how amazing and satisfyig life can be when you live your days for the will of God. I have never tasted beer or been drunk. I have never smoked pot or done any kind of drugs. (I did get morphine once with a knee surgery - that was cool) My wife and I were virgins when we married and we have been faithful to each other for 25 years of marriage. Now with three teenagers I don't have to say, "Don't do as I did, but do as I say." I simply tell them, "Live your life for the glory of God as I have lived before you!"
My wife, Kim, and I have three amazing teenagers; Alesha, Allyson, and Preston. I have served in the full time ministry for the past 27 years and currently have the awesome privilege of being the pastor of Rock Family Church here in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
