I was saved when I was 11. I wish I could say that I lived a good Christian life, and everything was as it should have been. I spent most of my life walking in darkness. Well, how can that be? Aren't you supposed to be in the light when you are saved? Read your bible. You have to seek before you can find. If you're not seeking the light, you won't find it. It also helps when you have someone who is already walking in the light, to guide you. If you are in darkness, you can't lead anyone out of darkness. The blind cannot lead the blind!
I went through my teenage years trying to be part of the world. Trying to fit in with my friends. Doing drugs, drinking alcohol, and trying to have sex. I didn't really know what I was doing. I was doing what I thought I needed. I thought I had it all figured out. I thought I was smart.
That carried over into my 20's. I was curious and got mixed up with people that practiced witchcraft. I hadn't realized that people really did those things for real. They are called wickans. They did everything they could to get me to follow them. I just wanted to prove them wrong. I didn't believe they could really do anything. I found out the hard way! I ended up in spritual battles. I found out they had the power of demons. They worship fallen angels, old evil spirits, etc. If you give them an opening, they can enter into your mind and try to break you into thier will. They dazzle you with colorful lies, and promises of power. After I realized I had made a huge mistake, I ran away from them.
Many other things happened. My mother in law died, my grandmother died, and my 5 month old son died. They all passed close together. My wife left me too. My life had fallen apart. I was completely empty inside, and that is a painfull, and scary feeling. I was close to suicide, and insanity. The wickans were still attacking me through all of this. I was about to give up.... Then, I prayed. I cried out to Jesus for help. I asked for mercy, forgiveness, strength, and guidence. He gave all of it to me. He rose me up from certain doom. He healed me. It took time, but that was my fault. I didn't want to let go of my despair. I didn't want to forgive myself. The Lord never gave up on me. He sanctified me. He reshaped me.
Last year I finally decided to stop fighting with the Lord. To stop hesitating. To stop trying to resist him. I am so foolish and stubborn. I decided to answer his call for my life. I decided to work to become a Pastor. He called me about 14 years ago. I kept resisting, but he kept calling. I came forth and was baptised, in July of 2007. Every day I strive to be what the Lord has called me to be. There is more joy than I ever could have imagined! He continues to shape me, and sanctify me. With every challenge comes a new chance for victory. It is only possible in Christ Jesus! The people of my Church have helped me tremendously! The amazing part is, that they think I have helped them! It is so wonderful how the Lord uses us to help each other, mostly without our knowing it.
I don't walk around in darkness, anymore. Sure, I still make mistakes sometimes. I know now what to do about it. Now I have the light to see where I am going. Everyday brings new challenges, but with that comes more chances for victory. All things are possible for me in Christ Jesus, who strenghtens me.
